Arlene Evans, a former Operating Department Nurse at VHC Health, and Barry Dewberry are making a transformational investment to enhance medical training and education through the creation of a new Simulation Center. Their investment ensures sustainability in several key areas.
Endowment for continuous learning
The Arlene Evans and Barry Dewberry Endowed Simulation Education Fund will support the continuous education of VHC Health’s simulation and medical professionals. Generating annual proceeds, the fund enables staff to participate in key conferences and advanced training, keeping them at the cutting edge of medical practice.
Advanced training facilities
The new Simulation Center will include three areas: the Perioperative Services Simulation Center, the Hospital Services Simulation Center, and the Clinical Skills Laboratory, each designed to improve the training environment for various medical professionals.
State-of-the-art equipment
Their investment will also upgrade the Center with the latest medical and educational technology, from realistic manikins to virtual reality devices. A mobile simulation unit will extend training to VHC Health staff in various locations, ensuring consistent excellence in patient care across the health system.
The impact on patient care
This project not only advances medical training quality but also highlights that philanthropy is enhancing the skills of VHC Health caregivers. The generosity of the community is directly boosting patient care and safety.
“The upgraded Simulation Center is more than just a facility—it’s a commitment to VHC Health’s mission to deliver the best healthcare.”
