Steve Meyerson, founding partner of Aspire Nonprofit Partners and longtime Arlington resident, is a proud supporter of VHC Health whose philanthropy reflects his belief in compassionate, community-centered care—and in keeping the Foundation team well caffeinated for the years ahead.
ARLINGTON, Va.: VHC Health patient and non-profit leader, Steve Meyerson, has made a generous $1 million endowment in honor of the Foundation staff to establish the Meyerson Coffee Cafe at eight locations throughout the health system’s locations across Northern Virginia. Additionally, he will be making a $20 gift to the Emergency Department.
“I was meeting with the president of the Foundation to discuss making a donation. When I went to get a coffee, I noticed there was no coffee machine available. I thought to myself, ‘I could help with that’ Amy then mentioned that this would be the perfect way to start my contributions,” said Meyerson. “As a result, I am setting up an endowment to ensure that the Foundation staff can purchase coffee in the years to come. Additionally, I am making a small contribution to our Emergency Department.”
Steve cares deeply about ensuring the best care is close to home.
“I once experienced a serious incident in Florida when I was bitten by an alligator, and the nearest hospital was 30 miles away. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very good hospital either. No one should have to endure an alligator bite, but even more so, no one should have to worry about receiving care if such a situation arises.”
Steve has used several different health systems over the years, but VHC Health stood out from the moment he entered the building.
He noted that his experience is hard to put into words; it is not just a state-of-the-art hospital, but also a community. Everyone—from the clinical leaders to the security officers who greet you at the entrance—was genuinely focused on him and committed to ensuring he receives the best care possible.
“Being part of a large healthcare system often prioritizes profit over community health. However, VHC Health truly listens to the community and acts quickly to address needs as they arise, such as with the Center for Women’s Health. I am grateful that my family doesn’t have to visit multiple providers in different locations. Healthcare can be stressful, but VHC Health simplifies the process.”
Steve said that he hopes the Foundation staff remain fully caffeinated for years, and that no staff member ever has to wait for a cup of coffee.
